Ariadne Decker

Founder & Chief Executive Officer Ariadne Decker

Ariadne developed the concept for Culture Café while striving to connect with her own culture. Out of this passion, Culture Café was born.

As an experienced IT and media executive, Ariadne brings twelve years of sales, management, business development and strategy experience. She also has vast international experience and understands firsthand the challenges faced by internationals living or studying abroad. A German-Canadian, she grew up in Canada, studied/worked in Montreal, London, Havana and New York, and traveled extensively throughout Europe and the Americas. She is fluent in English, German and French languages and functional in Spanish.

Ariadne has always been an innovator. She drove lucrative new business relationships for her previous employers. She worked at John Wiley & Sons, Inc. in New York from 2001 to 2007 where she built Wiley’s scientific, technical, and medical content licensing business online. In her first year, she closed several lucrative content licensing deals with major Internet properties. She brought in annual revenues of $6 million per year by 2006, up from $0.6 million in 2003, from relationships with online properties that repurposed and resold Wiley STM content.

Ariadne was the North American Sales Manager for Steltor, a software company (acquired by Oracle). While at Steltor, she discovered a need for calendaring software within universities across North America. Within two years, she managed to sell and deploy the CorporateTime software across many large universities, generating significant new revenues. In between her two years of business school in New York, Ariadne worked at 24/7 Media, Inc. and learned the business of Internet advertising.

Ariadne earned a Master in Business Administration from New York University’s Stern School of Business in Marketing, Media and Entertainment. She also holds a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University in Finance and International Business. She graduated with honors from both universities.
