John Elton
Co-Founder
John Elton joined iNovia Capital, a venture capital firm, in 2007 as a Partner with responsibilities for the information technology sector in Canada; he also oversees the firm’s activities in the United States. John has been actively involved with several successful start-ups including dMarc Broadcasting (acquired by Google for up to $1.2 billion), where he helped raise $10 million. He also closed an acquisition while at Turnstone Capital. Prior to iNovia, John was a consultant in technology transfer for McGill University, a partner institution of iNovia.
John was a Portfolio Manager at Falcon Private Equity (a Gulf International Bank fund), a $100 million fund focused on the information technology, communications and media industries. Some of the fund’s investments include eMotion (acquired by Corbis), Revenue Sciences, and Anystream. John was also a member of 24/7 Media’s strategic planning group. He began his career at Veronis, Suhler & Associates, where he advised global media and communications companies on mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, as well as supported the firm’s $1 billion private equity fund.
John received a Master in Business Administration in Finance and Marketing from New York University and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from Lehigh University. John was born in Germany, grew up in the United States, and currently lives in Montreal.
